Composting
NEWS handles up to 20,000 tonnes a year of biodegradable organic or 'green' waste from Household Waste Recycling Centres and doorstep collections at its composting facility at Mayton Wood, near Coltishall.
The material, such as grass cuttings, hedge trimmings and general garden waste, is processed using an 'in-vessel' composting method to create a remarkable high quality soil improver that is a completely ‘green’ and sustainable alternative to finite sources of peat for agricultural, horticultural and garden use.
Composting forms an important part of NEWS' commitment to recycling and environmentally sustainable forms of waste management.
