What we cannot accept for landfill

NEWS is licensed to receive "non-hazardous" household, industrial and commercial waste only for landfill. Hazardous wastes, such as those listed below, cannot be accepted. However, NEWS can arrange for the collection, disposal and treatment of such wastes at licensed facilities. For full details and advice, call us or contact us by email to discuss your requirements.

All Electrical Items (WEEE)
Electrical goods containing hazardous components such as a cathode ray tube or mercury switch are hazardous.

Drummed Chemicals
Unless drums are clearly labelled as non-hazardous, all drummed waste should be regarded as hazardous.

Medicines and Sharps
All medicines and sharps are hazardous waste.

Sewage waste cannot be accepted. Screenings can be accepted.

Fragmentiser waste must be analysed by NEWS prior to being accepted.
